ABOUT ALISON
Alison Newcomer, PhD
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of anxiety, OCD, and related concerns in children, adolescents, and adults. I also work directly with parents to help children struggling with anxiety and OCD.
My approach draws on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I use these evidence-based approaches to provide treatment that is active, collaborative, and designed to extend beyond the therapy session.

CLINICAL BACKGROUND
Training & Experience
I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from The Catholic University of America and my master’s degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. I completed my predoctoral internship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
My interest in prevention and early intervention began at Johns Hopkins, where I studied how psychological science could be applied earlier in the course of a problem—when patterns are still taking shape and there is an opportunity to alter their trajectory. That perspective continued through my work in integrated behavioral health, where I worked alongside pediatricians and educators to bring psychological care into primary care and school settings. Today, I work in private practice, where I continue to value treatment that is grounded in psychological science and meaningful in the context of everyday life.
